November Activities

UNLQ TH3 PU22L3 at Mindbender Mansion

All month at OMSI

Enter the wonderful world of Mindbender Mansion, where a plethora of puzzles

promise to keep your neural pathways limber. Think push-ups for the brain! Work your

way through each of the mansion rooms, solving tabletop brainteasers as you go, or test

your teamwork skills on one of the large-scale group activities. Solve enough puzzles

and gather enough clues and you can join the ranks of the worldís greatest problem

solvers, the Mindbender Society.

But don’t be misled. While this exhibit is fun and a little bit wacky, at its heart is the

essential scientific task of problem solving: identifying patterns, thinking ahead, logical

reasoning, and looking at problems from different perspectives. In short, you practice the

skills needed to solve challenges on a global and everyday scale.

Have a blast with the following group challenges:

Feeding Frenzy: Kitchen mayhem is guaranteed in a race to beat the clock by filling TV

dinner trays (with five kinds of food) on a fast moving conveyer belt.

Flying Machine: Solid teamwork is a must in order to maneuver a flying machine

around a large game board hitting six targets in sequence before the time is up.

Spelling Fever: Hopscotch meets Scrabble in this race to spell correct words within a

limited amount of time by hopping on letter squares that light up.

Move and Match: Dinner time was never this much fun! Slide your dining room chairs

on wheels into a correct pattern before the clock runs out.

Amazing Maze: In this version of the classic steel ball labyrinth game, visitors must work

together to tilt a table in different directions, guiding a ball into several holes as quickly

as possible.

Upon completing a select number of group challenges and individual tabletop

brainteasers, you'll have enough clues and secret passwords to become a member of the

Mindbender Society and add your portrait to the "Wall of Fame." Fun for all ages!
